Best Natural Ways to Increase Energy Levels: Simple Tips to Feel More Active

Best Natural Ways To Increase Energy Level

With increasingly busy lives, many people regularly find themselves feeling tired and drained. However, if the tiredness you’re experiencing is lifestyle-related, there are a lot of things you can do to increase your energy levels. Let’s discuss some good lifestyle habits that will help you in improving your energy level.

Number one, get more sleep. Sleep is something that easily gets put on the back burner when you’re busy. From pushing back bedtime to meet a deadline, to missing out on a few hours of sleep due to shifts at work, many people cut back on hours that should be spent in bed. This lack of sleep can result in you feeling lethargic, grumpy, and tired. If you often feel this way, you may want to consider whether you’re getting enough sleep. It’s recommended that you aim for at least seven hours of sleep a night, although some people need a little bit more and some people are fine with a little bit less. If you don’t sleep as much as you need to, you can try winding down with relaxing behaviors before bed. This could be taking the time to have a bath, reading a book, or getting into bed half an hour earlier than usual. You should also try to avoid using phones and other screens around bedtime. The use of bright screens before bed has been linked to poor sleep quality, lack of sleep, and increased sleepiness throughout the day.

Number two, reduce stress. It’s not uncommon for people with busy lives to feel stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed. Feelings of stress can mean that you struggle to concentrate, experience racing thoughts, and have trouble switching off. This can take a toll on your physical and mental health; feeling stressed has been closely linked to tiredness. In many cases, it’s not possible to remove all the sources of stress in your life, of course, but if you minimize lifestyle-related stress, then it could help to increase your energy levels. Strategies to improve your energy levels include taking some time for yourself to relax, reading, or going for a walk. You could also try mindfulness or other meditation techniques which can reduce anxiety.

Number three, be social. Social connections are incredibly important for maintaining good health. In areas of the world with unusually low rates of disease and a high number of centenarians, or people who live to be over a hundred years old, one of the common factors is a strong social support network. Social isolation is known to cause low mood and tiredness, especially as you get older. In fact, people with stronger social networks are thought to have better physical and mental health as they age. If you feel tired all the time or in low spirits, it can be helpful to catch up and socialize with old friends, or join a social club, or find a new hobby that gets you out and about.

Number four, stay hydrated. Now, depending on your age, your body is made of about 55 to 75% water. For this reason, dehydration can affect your brain function, mood, and energy levels. And during the day, you lose water via urine and sweat, so you need to drink enough water to compensate for this loss. To stay hydrated, make sure you drink when you’re thirsty. Also remember that if you sweat a lot due to hot weather or being very active, you may need a little more water. Additionally, keep in mind that older people may not always feel thirsty even when they do need to drink, so they may need to make a conscious effort to drink water regularly throughout the day. Actually, regardless of age, you should keep a water bottle handy and drink from it regularly.

Number five, last but not least, move more. Regular exercise is important for reducing your risk of many diseases, and if you live a sedentary lifestyle, it could also boost your energy levels. This may seem counterintuitive, as when you’re feeling tired, getting up and moving your body can feel like the last thing you want to do. Luckily, you don’t need to engage in killer workouts to experience those benefits. In fact, one study found that sedentary people with persistent unexplained fatigue decreased their tiredness by around 65% just by regularly participating in low-intensity cycling. Other studies have suggested that going for a 10-minute walk when you feel tired is a superior pick-me-up compared to having a snack. To incorporate exercise into your day, you could try getting away from your desk and going for a walk on your lunch break or walking to and from your place of work.

Now let’s discuss some natural dirty foods that will also help you to improve, if you are struggling with increasing energy naturally.

The number one food you’ve got to start consuming to improve your energy level is coconut oil. Coconut contains medium-chain fatty acids, which have been shown to help your body burn fat for energy. Other fats, like olive oil and, let’s say, things like canola oil, are longer-chain fats. Your body has to go through a 26-step process to use those for energy. Your body only has to go through a three-step process to start burning the fats in coconut oil for energy. So a tablespoon of coconut oil in a superfood smoothie or some coconut milk or cooking with coconut oil—that’s going to increase your energy.

The second food that can boost your energy is chia seeds. In fact, historically, chia seeds have been known as “runners’ food.” They are your highest plant-based source of protein. They’re loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, and your body can burn those for energy. So again, chia seed, also known as “warriors’ food” or “runners’ food.” If you want to get those benefits and amplify them, mix some chia seeds along with coconut oil and just consume those as a snack with a little bit of raw honey. A great energy-boosting food. In fact, there are a lot of people today that are mixing coconut oil, chia seeds, and raw honey together and actually using that as their fuel during workouts.

The third food group that you’ve got to get in your diet if you want to boost your energy is more green, leafy vegetables and green superfoods. Green, leafy vegetables like spinach, kale, and collard greens are loaded with chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is like the lifeblood of a plant. It’s very alkaline to your body. It helps reduce acidity. It’s been shown to naturally improve energy levels. Also, those green, leafy vegetables are packed with magnesium. Magnesium is a key electrolyte, supporting cellular function, as well as supporting muscle growth and function. So you want to raise your energy. Packing on more energy with spinach, kale, and collard greens is a great strategy as well.

If you feel tired all the time, it’s worth taking a critical look at your lifestyle to see which healthy changes you can make to increase your energy levels and help you feel energetic and active. So add those above superfoods and supplements into your diet, along with the natural healthy habits, you’re going to see your energy is going to soar.
